SaaS launch guides

Before a single line of code is written, six decisions set how much you will spend and when you can start charging: the budget, the timeline, the technology, whether the idea has demand, whether to build with no-code or code, and who builds it. They are laid out here in that order, with a guide for each question.

Every guide cites its sources (official documentation, published pricing, legislation) with the date they were checked. Guides still being written are listed without a link and will go live as they are published. Written by Alejandro García, the developer behind SaasIn7.

The six decisions, one by one

01

Cost

What it costs to build and, separately, what it costs to keep running every month: hosting, database and payment fees.

02

Timelines

The timeline depends mostly on scope: how much goes into the first version and who decides what stays out.

  • How long does it take to build an MVP · coming soon
  • What features should an MVP have · coming soon

03

Stack

The pieces every SaaS needs (authentication, database, recurring payments, deployment) and how to bill subscriptions with VAT handled properly.

  • Best tech stack for a SaaS · coming soon
  • SaaS subscription billing with Stripe · coming soon

04

Validating the idea

How to check that someone would pay before spending on development: problem interviews, a waiting list, pre-sales, and when it is time to build for real.

  • How to validate a SaaS idea · coming soon

05

How to build it: no-code or code

When a no-code tool is enough and when it falls short: monthly fees, usage limits and who owns what you build.

  • No-code vs custom code for SaaS · coming soon

06

Who to hire

Agency, freelancer or in-house team: what to ask before you sign and what has to be in your name when the code is handed over.

  • Who owns the code when you hire a developer · coming soon

Where the data comes from

The guides start from primary sources, not other blogs. Each one states at the bottom the date its sources were checked, because prices and limits change.

  • Official pricing pages of Stripe, Supabase and Vercel (running costs).
  • Official documentation for Next.js, Supabase and Stripe (stack and subscription billing).
  • Rob Fitzpatrick, The Mom Test (2013), and Eric Ries, The Lean Startup (2011) (validation).
  • Spain's Intellectual Property Act (Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996, Title VII, computer programs), BOE (code ownership).
  • SaasIn7's own prices, timelines and guarantee, as published on the home page.
